In this How to Fish Lure guide, I explain all the lures and what kind of fish you can catch. It becomes lots of easy if I know what lure I buy when I am hunting for a specific fish or drip. I also explain that some fish may appear with more than one lure and the drip variants comes with different lure requirements. I also find the Salmon Drip on the beginner lure. I recommend you to use other lure given below if a specific drip isn’t showing up with normal lure.
Basic Lure – The Chip?
I use the Basic Lure for these fish:
- Brown Crab
- Shrimp
- Mackerel
- Gar
- Pike
- Goldfish
Hot Dog
The Hot Dog can catch:
- Rock Crab
- Lobster
Beginner Lure
I use the Beginner Lure for:
- Piranha
- Pike
- Cod
- Goldfish
- Perch
- Triggerfish
- Golby
- Salmon drip
A comment also confirms that Piranha is caught with the Beginner Lure, not the Hot Dog.
Standard Lure
The Standard Lure catches:
- Angelfish
- Yellow Boxfish
- Bowlfish
- Catfish
- Sea Urchin
- Seahorse
- Clownfish
- Bluegill
- Salmon
- Needlefish
Professional Lure
I use the Professional Lure for:
- Parrotfish
- Voxelfish
- Bass
- Halibut
- Eel
- Tigerfish
- Flying Fish
- Sengarat
- Red Snapper
- Dripper
The comments also point out Dripper because it was easy to miss from the original list.
Scientific Lure
The Scientific Lure is for:
- Anglerfish
- Blobfish
- Oarfish
- Superdwarf Fish
- Stonefish
Boss Lures
These use special bait instead of the normal lures:
| Bait / Lure | Boss |
|---|---|
| Empty Beer Can | Spider Crab |
| Modified Leech | Giant Piranha |
| Beginner Boss Lure | The Old Pike |
| Standard Boss Lure | Blue Shark |
| Carrot | Pufferfish |
| Professional Boss Lure | Tuna |
| Scientific Boss Lure | Goblin Shark |
| Fish Bucket | Bowhead Whale |
I can also catch Sunfish with the Beginner Boss Lure.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Some fish can appear with more than one lure, so if I am hunting a specific drip and it is not showing up with the normal lure, I try the other lure mentioned here before assuming the game is bugged.
