The Volcano Minigame in Nightwater is a platforming challenge with 4 different tracks and 3 abilities to unlock. In this guide, I cover all of the tracks, abilities, useful tips, and the WR Any% achievement.

Nightwater Boon Guide

Volcano Minigame

The Volcano Minigame is essentially a platformer game within Nightwater. The concept itself is pretty straightforward.

Each time I finish a track, I get a reward currency called Data. I spend Data on upgrades, such as increasing my speed or unlocking new abilities.

On the final track, I also spend Data on permanent upgrades outside of the Minigame, similar to the other Minigames.

There are 4 different tracks and 3 abilities to unlock. I always need to unlock the required ability before I do the next track. In fact, I need the ability just to reach the starting point of the next track.

Abilities

Dash

I press Q to dash forward.

Needed for Track #2.

Double-Jump

I jump a second time while I am mid-air.

Needed for Track #3.

Wall-Run

I jump against the panels on the walls and run along them.

Needed for Track #4.

Hint: I reach Track #4 from Track #1, so after finishing Track #3, I need to go back to Track #1.

Finishing the final track gives me the WR Any% achievement.

Quick Tips

In Nightwater, I fully move while I am mid-air. This means I change direction or sprint while jumping to control exactly where I am going.

I often need my dash to reach moving platforms. This be a little tricky, so I try to find a pattern, such as the position where I need to dash so I land on the platform at the right moment.

The blue bouncy pads / wall-runs do not refresh my abilities. If I use my double-jump before reaching one, I cannot use it again afterward. I keep this in mind when moving through the tracks.

I also jump off the wall during a wall-run to get some extra height or distance.
